How to log in to your Portal das Finanças account
Step 1: Go to https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/.
Step 2: Click on the Iniciar Sessão button at the top right corner of the page.
Step 3: Click on the NIF tab.
Step 4: Enter your login information.
- Enter your NIF: Where can I find my NIF number?
- Enter your password: When will I receive my password?
- Click the Autenticar button.
Step 5: Skip or proceed with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
- If you have enabled 2FA, confirm your identity by entering the code sent to you via SMS.
- If you have not enabled 2FA, a pop-up window will appear.
- Select Continuar Login to skip setting up 2FA and proceed with logging in.

Join Two Factor Authentication
Strengthen your account security by enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
With 2FA, in addition to your password, you'll need to confirm your identity with a unique code sent via SMS. 2FA prevents third parties from accessing your personal data, even in situations where your password may have been compromised.
How does it work?
1. Start authentication with your credentials (NIF and password).
2. You will receive a security code via SMS on your confirmed phone.
3. Enter the code to complete authentication.
Click "Join" to enable 2FA.
That's it! Once you’re logged in, your name and NIF will appear in the upper-left corner of the screen.
