What proof of NISS assignment can I submit for my NISS pickup order?

Why do you need the proof of NISS assignment?

When we collect your NISS on your behalf, the Segurança Social (Portuguese Social Security Office) requires confirmation that a NISS has already been assigned to you. This ensures that they release the correct NISS to us as your authorized representative.


What proof can I provide?

  1. Screenshot from the online NISS Request Form
    • Shows the error message: "Já existe um NISS atribuído para o documento de identificação civil registado"
      • Translation: "A NISS has already been assigned to the registered civil identification document."
    • Must include the number of your Proof of Identification

  1. Email from Segurança Social
    • An official email from noreply@seg-social.pt or another Social Security email address confirming that your NISS has been assigned.
    • The email should clearly show your name or other details that confirm it’s linked to you.

  1. Letter from Segurança Social
    • The official physical letter that is sent to your Portuguese address (if applicable), confirming your NISS number and collection details.
    • A scanned copy or clear photo of the letter is fine.

What if I don’t have any of these yet?
