What can I use as proof of address for Novobanco?
When ordering your bank account, it’s important to submit a valid proof of address document.
The bank will use the address you provide to send your debit or credit cards during the account opening process.
Any of the following documents are acceptable:
- Utility bill
- Examples: electricity, water, gas, internet, landline, or mobile phone bill
- Must display your current residential address
- Bank statement
- Must show day-to-day transactions
- Must display your current residential address
- The bank must be based in your country of residence
- Fintech services (e.g., Wise, Revolut) are not accepted
- Credit card statements, bank certificates, and confirmation letters are not accepted
Document requirements
Your documents must satisfy the following criteria:
- Your document must show a residential address outside of Portugal.
- Must match the "Residential Address" submitted in the intake form
- P.O. boxes and business addresses are not accepted
- Original PDFs or high-quality scanned documents only. Documents must be submitted in PDF format.
- No shadows or light reflections
- All text is legible

- No redactions or blacked-out information.
- Must be issued within the last 6 months.
- Your full name (given name + surname) must match the name on your passport.
- No abbreviations, nicknames, or initials
- Your document must be in English, Portuguese, Spanish, or French.
