What can I use as proof of address for Novobanco?

When ordering your bank account, it’s important to submit a valid proof of address document.

The bank will use the address you provide to send your debit or credit cards during the account opening process.

Any of the following documents are acceptable:

  1. Utility bill
    • Examples: electricity, water, gas, internet, landline, or mobile phone bill
    • Must display your current residential address
    • Issued within the past 6 months
  2. Bank statement
    • Issued within the past 6 months
    • Must show day-to-day transactions
    • Must display your current residential address
    • The bank must be based in your country of residence
    • Fintech services (e.g., Wise, Revolut) are not accepted
    • Credit card statements, bank certificates, and confirmation letters are not accepted


Document requirements

  • Address
    • Must be a residential address outside of Portugal
    • Must match the "Residential Address" submitted in the intake form
    • P.O. boxes and business addresses are not accepted
    • Details should be visible and not blacked out
  • Name
    • Full name (given name and surname) must match the name on your passport.
  • Document quality
    • Document must be submitted in PDF format. Screenshots, PNG, and JPEG files are not accepted.
    • All four corners of the document are visible
    • No light reflections
    • Text is legible
    • No shadows
  • Document language
