Which year do I select when applying for NHR?

When applying for NHR, you will be asked to select a year under the field Ano de inicio ("Start year"). This is the year that you updated your NIF with a Portuguese address, which is the start date of your tax residency in Portugal. 

How to find your Ano de inicio
1. Update your Portugal NIF with a Portuguese address. See our step-by-step guide here.
2. On your updated NIF document, find the date next to the "Data de Produção de Efeitos" ("Effective Date") field.
