What are the different numbers on my NIB / IBAN document for?
Here's a guide to the different numbers on your NIB / IBAN document:
| Portuguese | English | Purpose |
| Conta N° | Account Number | • Used to make a deposit at any branch of the same bank • Used to conduct transfers within the same bank |
| NIB - Número de Identificação Bancária | Bank Identification Number | • Used to conduct transfers to/from bank accounts inside of Portugal |
| IBAN - Número Internacional de Conta Bancária | International Bank Account Number | • Used to receive money from a country outside of Portugal • Provided to anyone making a transfer to your account (along with BIC/SWIFT) |
| BIC / SWIFT - Código de Identificação do Banco | Bank Identifier Code | • Used to identify the bank for wire transfers |
